The way we compose music and play piano is a little bit different. The main factor for music is not a musical notes, but sound vibration that based on finger and piano string proportions. Playing this way, sound resonates creating variable and infrequent accords. This style of music allows to play also on differently tuned (untuned) instruments because prime sound comes from piano soundboard. But the easiest way to understand it is to listen. People are interested in why we tend to play out-of-tune grand pianos, so we decided to introduce our music playing style a little closer.
Introducing it, we can say that the answer to this question is not clear-cut. It is possible to play both “straight” tuned instruments and untuned ones. It’s harder to “find” harmony on an out-of-tune piano, but when you find it, it will definitely be more unusual. It should be noted that such recordings should be listened to in WAV or another lossless audio format, with a good digital-analog converter and exemplary acoustics. In other words, on very good technique. Then this “dance” of harmonies will not “push” your ears and you will be able to enjoy their play of colors. Music can also be recorded on a purely tuned concert grand piano. Then the harmonies will be more reminiscent of crystal bells and the music will move the senses into a completely different mood. You can also detune the “third string” a bit, which in turn will give the harmony resonance and a different tone. A difference of even a few hertz will change the harmony in its fundamentals, which in turn will change the playing style and consequently the melody.
